There's an African proverb that says "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." If we all go together, I know we will go far.

There are those of you that can speak quite frankly about your own personal fight with breast cancer and then there are a very high percentage of us that at least know someone who is in the midst of dealing with this or sadly lost their battle to breast cancer. Consider yourself very grateful if you can say that you do not know someone by name that has been afflicted with this disease in your circle of family and friends. I've watched it affect a wide range of ages and sadly it seems to be getting its hands on our younger generations now.

I'm asking everyone I know to please, please consider joining my Team (Team Teresa - until we gather that is the name, but I'm sure together we can think of something much funner!) and walk 60 miles over three days to celebrate the spirit of all those that have passed before us and honor those that are too sick to walk themselves right now. If your unable to physically walk beside me then please consider helping me in other ways. There are wonderful opportunities to become a crew team member and help out at the camp site, and food stations and stopping points all along the walk. If this is something that peaks your interest let me know and I'll get some more information on that for you. All the funds we raise go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I'm hoping to get at least 4 other walkers with me and my personal goal is to raise at least $2200.00 for research and community outreach programs that might save the lives of countless other mothers, sisters and aunts. Together, Team Teresa can do it!! You can count on me to do everything I can to help you train, raise funds and prepare for this incredible journey. There will be motivational meetings, weekly walks, and tips on fundraising to get everyone in gear. No one is left to do anything on their own. It will be the experience of a lifetime, I promise!

This is the first step. To register, go to www.The3Day.org or call 800.996.3DAY. Follow the link below to visit my team webpage. I will either follow up via email or give you a call this weekend to find out what you've decided. Don't hesitate to follow up with me either. Please check out the site, watch the videos before you automatically decide that you can't walk or donate the money. Every dollar counts when your putting it towards something that could potentially create a future without breast cancer. I look at this as a knudge for me to begin my goal of getting into shape and being fit for the new 2008 and doing it with my heart filled with the spirit of all those I'm walking for. Help me attain this and you won't regret it! =)

With Much Love ~

Teresa :)

I've done the official first day of walking in a large jaunt. Kevin and I walked for a 6 mile walk yesterday morning. Initially, we started with 2 of our three dogs the young girls Reba and CC. They made it as far as around the block. =) But, went back home and grabbed MaMa Chelsea and she went the whole route with us. Very proud of her too she hasnt been on a walk like that herself in a long time! So, we did some different terrain mostly walking along the street but there was hills and near the end of the walk on the way home was a good mile of walking through a nice treed trail with bit of a different foundation to walk on.

Needless to say the walk was great, except it served as a reminder that I need new walking shoes and possibly new inserts. My feet, my calves, my butt, and portions of my back area were actually sore when I woke up today. Well, my feet were sore for the rest of the afternoon yesterday.. but this length of walking will take a bit to get my body used to as we go through the physical transition of health. I am very excited!

So, come the end of the day I'd walked a total of 15,226 steps (7.5 miles) (and burned a total 481 calories and needless to say I was tired! I will begin a new weekly regime of tai chi, pilates, walking and aerobic workouts. As I said I've got a bigger goal in mind here than just gearing up for the walk itself. I've got a new me to reveal as well!
I'll be in touch! Namaste':)

Wow, that's a great project. I really admire your spirit and your motivation to improve things and help the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. I have also had experiences with the disease and started supporting our local trust. I am really happy that cancer treatment (http://www.students.sonoma.edu/users/c/charlest/cancer-treatment.html) is becoming more effective thanks to the scientific progress. But research needs money and we can all do our part to support research and help to save lives in the future.
