In a society that is obsessed with "doing" rather than "being" we tend to continually skimp out on sleep. Over the long term sleep deprivation has a negative impact on both your physical and mental health. When we don't get enough sleep we are unable to handle stress and emotions. Additionally lack of sleep places a serious burden on our immune system.
What time do you get to bed at night? Between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 am the body goes through physical repair. Are you skimping on those hours? If you are trying to lose weight and nothing is coming off - well it's not going to if you are not sleeping between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
What time do you get up in the morning? Between 2 am and 6 am the body goes through psychological or mental repair. Feeling crabby? You might want to make sure you are getting sleep during those hours as well. Stay in bed longer in the morning when you can.
Take the time to prepare the body for sleep at night. Dim the lights, put on candles, have a warm bath. Get ready for bed and sleep.
