After a week of going sugar free I continue to gather more and more evidence that supports my decision. Those of you who attend my yoga classes know how passionate I am about good digestion.
Any good yogi knows that digestion is the seat of good health. Keep your digestive system moving and you will experience good health. If the digestive system is sluggish then the waste that gathers in the digestive tract creates toxins that seep into the body. Also, when waste fails to move through the digestive system it turns to mucous and moves up in the body causing bronchial and sinus infections.
So what does this have to do with sugar?
Sugar weakens the digestive system.
When you consume too much refined sugar, your body's ability to absorb minerals is impeded. These mineral deficiencies lead to problems in the digestive system since minerals are essential to the function of digestive enzymes in your body.
When high blood sugar interferes with mineral absorption, the enzymatic reaction that signals your intestines to begin the rhythmic contractions to help you digest your food is inhibited.
As a result, food remains undigested in your intestines and putrefies. You already know what that means. Toxins seeping into the body, mucous moving up into the respiratory system.
Who wants to kick the sugar habit? I'm going to set up a thread that will allow you to connect with other people who want to kick up the sugar habit. So stay tuned!
